2002/elvisbk

A gray-haired man
in the book store,
crisp blue
dress shirt
and tie,
appropriate shoes
and slacks,
makes good use
of the morning
reading an Elvis
Presley book
he hasn’t paid for.
I can see it has
color photos from
where I sit,
he is deeply engaged,
brow slightly pinched
in concentration,
as he slowly flips
to the next photo
of the King.
