2002/highway

It’s quiet here
except for the highway,
obscured from our
street.
Trucks roar in
the distance,
easier to tune out
because they are
not seen
or smelled.
Something like
the sound
I imagine
the Earth makes
as it grinds
another notch
around
its axis.
