99poems/swan

I place a cool
pack upon my
back. And rock
in my desk chair.
Life is good.
I am very blessed.
For one thing
I have exquisite
handwriting,
large and round,
and flowing.
A sort of swan
swimming
across the page.
Also I have plenty
of paper. I am
stocked up
for the year.
And did I mention,
that I have green eyes?
And a new green
ring to match.
An aventurine ball
set into a gold
elephant.
It’s whimsy, something
I must reckon with
each time I see it.
Lest I forget
to lighten
my load.
As I tend to –
taking on
everyone’s cares
as though
they were my
own.
All the people
who forget
to call you back
when their fortune
changes.
Oh well.
Hefalump.
Hefalump.
Here I come,
my big butt swaying,
bells ringing,
shaking my back
to throw things
off,
as I go.
