2001/eat

I like my cilantro
pulled from the stem,
its leaves whole.
Not chopped up,
stems and leaves
together,
leaves badly
bruised.
Bleeding,
but refusing
to be broken.

Aside from the
practicality,
that it makes
the cilantro
spoil faster,
if it’s true
that opposites
heal,
it seems ill
advised to eat
something
that looks
like that.
