2002/trees

Halloween.
The view out
my window
the same as
always,
only sleepier,
trees not yet
awake to the day.
Do trees rest
at night,
repairing their cells
when photosynthesis
is done?
Do they wake up,
as I do, not very
rested at all,
after dreams
they start to tell
about and then
forget,
realizing they are
in a room
without words.
