2009/dung
Among dung beetles,
smaller males don’t grow
the horns necessary for battle.
They become sneaky instead,
lurking and burrowing
into the female’s tunnels.
Hearing this news
I thought of you,
sly and opportunistic
as biological necessity,
waiting at the edges
for someone to draw
you in.
