2014\goodsick

Today I am sick, good sick
just a headache and dizziness.
a bit of nausea –
not actual vomiting,
my flesh sprawled
across the cold bathroom tiles,
good sick, freshly showered in bed
in the early afternoon
BBC television shows and
a new book of poems,
a recent gift
3/4 of which I’ve already read
in earlier volumes,
so the reading comes smoothly
and I can feel more capable
than I might actually be today –
a publishing practice
I complain about perusing
the contents, but later
feel grateful for.
