Lately I have been trying
my friend’s cat food method,
adding a bit of water ‑
preferably bottled ‑
to the wet food.

I bring home cat
feeding techniques,
from every house
I visit.

My sister’s cat gets
one spoonful a day of wet,
stirred into the dry.
A sprinkle of brewer’s yeast
for her fur.

I’m not sure why I keep
trying these things.
Our recently‑feral cats
have a hunter’s appetite.
It is nothing for them
to put away a can of food ‑
or a mouse ‑
or a rabbit ‑
or a rat.
