(newview2)

My new view –
the one from my desk –
is a longer view,
a layered view
which begins with
my own little tree.
Across the street
the scraggly oak
as full of dead
branches as the trees,
in our yard.
Winter grass
and cholla cactus,
the neighbor’s
car shed,
where his red truck
is parked.
Just the silhouette
of Mt. Israel
snaking its way
across the cumulus sky.
And one bold pine,
whose base is not revealed
so that I cannot see
where he lives,
standing in dominion
over it all.
