MILLENNIAL FEAR

She is still
eating the food
she stockpiled
last year in
millenial fear.
And glad to have
it, she says.
Things are close
as ever,
the disability check
does not go far.
People send contributions
to help her avoid
the nursing home
another month.
A parlyzed woman
does not make much,
but wrings what fun
she can from it.
Poring over catalogues
at Christmas,
wrapping up gifts
she receives
to maill off to
someone else.
She makes do,
she holds on.
