2007/peace

I’m grateful for the peace
a rainy day brings,
keeping the gardeners away,
with their loud equipment
at 7:00 a.m.,
my nerves shot
before the day begins.
I’m glad to be free
of gardening for now.
Except to pick roses
before the rains,
though I don’t have
the appropriate tool,
a fact I bump into
throughout the day –
things I lack.
